Yangmingshan Tien Lai Resort and Spa review:
Tien Lai Resort & Spa is a 4**** hotel located in Yangmingshan National Park, famous of its mountains, forests and hot springs. It is one of a few hotels in the area that pipe hot springs sulfur water into the pools and in-room baths (available in Japaneese rooms within new building). The water is milky coloured and has peculiar mild smell that is easy to get used to in a couple of days.
The facilities are big, clean and face magnificent mountains: hotel guests can enjoy either of 8 outdoor pools with temperature ranging from 24 to 38 degrees, indoor and outdoor nude pools (separate for men and women), hot-springs showers, saunas, gym. “Just-in-time” room cleaning is another nice feature: no one will bother you till the preferred cleaning time.
On the dark side is hotel’s food – it is traditional Chineese and very poor in quality and variety. The only way to get nice dinner is take a taxi or bus to Jinshan or explore small restaurants on the road. The other disadvantage is its SPA – definitely overpriced.
So our recommendation is to stay in the hotel for max 2-4 nights.
How to get to Yangmingshan Tien Lai Resort and Spa:
- There is really no need to pay for in-room hot spring tub: it is small and jaded.
- Explore the Jianboli hiking trail 3 mins down the road to the hotel: it comes through natural forest with waterfalls and bamboo alley (caution: it may be slippery in rain).
- Ask for free shuttle service to Jinshan old market at the reception.
